What Happiness Can Do

There's a cashier in the Cedar City Wal-Mart who never looks very happy.  I can't blame her though, she's always there in the middle of the night when the majority of customers are obnoxious and rude college students.  I love to get in her line and smile really big and ask her how she's doing, in essence "kill her with kindness."  After a couple times, she started recognizing me, and now she smiles back.  She's really nice, once you get to know her.

The English Dept. Secretary is really scary.  From my experiences as a grader, I've learned that she's not very tolerant with mistakes.  I've also learned not to reiterate for my own understanding in her presence ("Is that not what I just said?").  But despite the fact that I was terrified of her all semester, I was really nice and told her how much I appreciated her the last time I turned in my timecard.  She wasn't really any nicer to me, but I'm hoping that our relationship will be better next fall.

Every time we've been shopping since I've moved home, my mom has thought that I've known at least one person when I haven't.  I'm always really bubbly and friendly -- I can't help it.  Yesterday, we were in Eddie Bauer and I smiled at one of the women working in there, she complemented my smile and my happiness-- saying that it made her happy, too.  It's cheesy, I know, but I love making people happy.  It made my whole day to know that my happiness is contagious.
