today i walked into my boss's office and asked him my handful of questions. i stood in his doorway and waited for him to stop typing, just like i've done probably a thousand times before. but today i had one very different question.
after finding out the answers to my every-day res life questions, our conversation went like this:
"i'm going to ask you something serious, but you will think it's silly."
"yes?"
"if you didn't think i could do this, you would have told me by now, right?" my eyes started welling up, but i didn't cry.
he smiled, laughed a little even, "of course. i think you're doing just fine."
"i mean for a career, like you think i can make it in res life."
"yes. you will be a director one day."
and that's all i needed. just one person to tell me that i could do this to counter the one person who told me i couldn't. and so i will.
