Disneyland and a Graduation

Last semester, after I found out I'd been given an RA position, I made a deal with my dad that if I could pull of good grades (hopefully all A's), that he would let me use the money we'd be saving from not having to pay for housing to go to Disneyland.  He agreed, and I booked plane tickets, hotel reservations, and hopper passes for my mom and I to spend 4 days in Disneyland.  I was so excited!  I kept my end of the bargain and earned good grades, kept my scholarship, and stayed on the Dean's List.

We left early on the 26th, so we'd still have a full day in the park.  I booked our flight into Long Beach, not knowing that LGB is completely miniature.  We flew in a 50 passenger plane, landed, walked through the tiny terminal, and by the time we got to baggage claim, our luggage was already there. It was so convenient!

Disneyland was great!  I hadn't been since 2004 (thought we went to Disneyworld last Christmas), and lots of things had changed.  I was thoroughly disappointed in the Finding Nemo ride-- it was the same as the old submarine ride with a few new Nemo holograms.  I was, however, IN LOVE with Mike and Sulley to the Rescue!  ADORABLE!!!  Plus, I got to meet Sulley and get my picture taken with him.

While we were on the ride, there's a room that is filled with children's doors, just like in the movie.  As we were riding through, I kept thinking about door decs for my floor.  I have considered a lot of themes, but I think the one I like the best is a Gidget/Hawaiian theme.  I change my mind about 50 times a day, though.  I guess it will all come down to which scrapbooking paper I like the best.  Oooh, there is that really cute new Sassafras Lass Owl paper. . . hmmm . . . .  Anyway, as I looked at all of those doors, I kept thinking that doors are going to be my greatest boundary.  I always envision my hall-to-be as having open doors and social, talkative girls, but those doors have to be opened first.  I hope I'll be able to break this boundary early on.

The one thing about Disneyland that hasn't change in the about 20 times I've been there, is that I have never been on the Matterhorn!  Every time we go, it's closed for maintenance.  I purposely checked to make sure it would be open when we went this time.  Well, Monday we were going to go on it first thing, but I decided that I wanted to go on it in the dark so we could look out over the park.  Monday night we lost track of time and didn't end up going.  Tuesday, same story.  Needless to say, it was CLOSED after that.  But, as much as I wanted to go on it for the first time, the scrapbooker and novelist in me understands that it's so much more fun to write/scrap that I didn't get to go.  It didn't ruin the trip, not at all.  I had an awesome time with my mom, took a lot of fun pictures, and most importantly, made a lot of great memories.

Yesterday, my cousin Spencer graduated from Alta High.  He's coming down to SUU next year, living in Juniper Hall, and is a member of the RHA Freshman Board.  I'm really excited for him.  It's going to be fun, but at the same time I'm a little irked at the fact that he's invading almost every aspect of my life down there.  We've never really been that close, but now that he's going to be closer, he's becoming a part of my life.  I don't know what to expect, it's going to be another adventure for 2008.  I can't wait!

Well, only 63 more days until I return to Juni!
