after friday's confidence plummet in duty, i think i more than made up for it on saturday. no one will be doubting my crisis response capabilities in the future.
saturday was long and crazy. selection started promptly at 8:00 am, so i was ready to head out the door at 7:15. 12 interviews later at 3:00 pm, i was on my way home for what i hoped wouldn't be a crazy evening on-duty.
unfortunately, my night was long, eventful, and i didn't even get home until 4:00 am. i was lucky to not have any calls while conducting ca selection interviews, but everything caught up to me that night. i had an on-going issue from around 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm that required extensive additional information reports to be written along with my duty notes. writing notes isn't a big deal, but i wasn't able to sit down and write them due to the number of calls i received while trying to get it done.
after finishing everything and seeing the majority of students coming back to their rooms in short skirts, heels, and trying to hide their levels of intoxication, i walked home and slept until 7:30 when i had to submit my duty report for the evening.
all in all, walking home, i felt more than capable. i had a silent victory when i got home knowing i had not only survived my first duty night, but proven to everyone that i could handle duty here. as much as i know i will miss the calm weeks of suu duty, i know i can handle this life of chaos.
so, the tally for the evening was:
paramedics transported one student at 9:00 pm due to intoxication level/lack of response
one "clawed" door
intoxicated resident fell from lofted bed, paramedics came again at 2:00 am
drunk residents slammed ca foot in their door. police came to cite residents.
resident left room with music blasting. keyed in with ca to turn it off.
wrote epically long duty reports and additional notes in my office between incidents until 4:00 am.
remained calm, observant, and kind during all situations.
walked home feeling an incredible sense of accomplishment.
welcome to the life of an asu acd.
woohoo! nicely done Katie!
